Our Heritage of Sophisticated Fun
Dunn & Overwith’s commitment to our members’ well-being began almost two fictional centuries ago when our company was founded by bon vivant Alfred Dunn and heiress Marjorie Overwith. Inspired by their families, fixtures in New York’s merchant aristocracy who, among other things, helped establish Central Park, these childhood friends decided that their fortunes should continue to be used to improve the lives of their fellow New Yorkers.
With that goal in mind, the unconventional society pair, known equally for their elegance and good humor, began organizing weekend field trips for their friends who were busy stockbrokers, bankers and attorneys. With Alfred and Marjorie at the helm, a ferry ride to Staten Island or a picnic with perfect seats to watch a new game being played in Manhattan called “base ball”, became an urbane affair, but one at which their harried friends could also relax and enjoy themselves.
Because of the success of these stylish events, Alfred and Marjorie were besieged with requests for assistance with other matters, such as finding the best milliner or the finest stable. Thus was born the firm of Dunn & Overwith.
Our “storied” history of sophisticated fun serves as Dunn & Overwith’s guide today as we continue to assist busy New Yorkers in living better lives.
…Seriously, Dunn & Overwith was founded in 2008 by Nicole Anzuoni and Gail Kelley. Nicole is a graduate of Harvard University and Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to starting Dunn & Overwith, she worked as a corporate attorney at two major law firms in New York City. Not unfamiliar with 100 billable hour work weeks, Nicole understands all too well how personal matters can fall through the cracks when keeping a grueling schedule. Gail is a graduate of Wagner College who began her career at Christie’s auction house. She then took her marketing, organizational and interpersonal skills to the world of higher education where she excelled in development and alumni relations. As her fellow travelers on the alumni trips she planned and hosted can attest, Gail really knows how to get people to enjoy their lives.
